Season one of Rick and Morty is a phenomenal and ambitious start to one of the most inventive animated shows ever created. 8.5/10
I found it an exhilarating blend of high-concept sci-fi, dark humor, and surprisingly deep emotional moments. The show’s pilot is good, but it’s the episodes that follow that truly showcase the series’s creative genius, from the iconic chaos of ‘Meeseeks and Destroy’ to the mind-bending brilliance of ‘Rixty Minutes.’
The voice cast is incredible, with Justin Roiland’s dual performance at the core of every adventure. The season is a masterclass in world-building and character development, setting up a vast universe and permanently changing its characters in ways that most shows wouldn’t dare.
While a few episodes are slightly weaker than the standouts, the season as a whole is a triumph that establishes a new gold standard for sci-fi comedy and leaves you hungry for more.
