This episode is a return to the series’ fan-favorite format: a chaotic, improvisational binge of interdimensional television, straight out of Season 1.
While the sheer creative absurdity is still impressive, the rapid-fire sketches feel less inspired than the first round, quickly cycling through nonsensical advertisements and bizarre reality shows.
The true saving grace, and the more compelling narrative, is Jerry’s B-plot. Stranded at an alien hospital with a terrible moral dilemma, Jerry’s predicament is a perfect satirical examination of his desire to be a hero juxtaposed with his profound self-absorption.
The episode cleverly balances the family’s casual disregard for his life-altering crisis with the genuinely unsettling stakes. It’s a good episode, but one where the average main event is thankfully upstaged by its own subplot.
