Ep 2 “Mortyplicity” commits fully to a high-concept premise, resulting in a mind-bending, chaotic masterpiece.
Rick’s “Decoy Cascade” means constant Smith family murder as dozens of variants – from Squid to Skinless to Wooden Puppets – fight a ruthless, self-consuming war. The high-octane action is dizzying, but honestly, it’s worth the ride.
While the main plot lacked a B-story, the climax and the post-credits scene deliver. Following the cowardly Wooden Jerry through centuries of suffering – torn apart by beavers, used as an alien crucifix – is pure, dark genius and easily one of the show’s best tags. Top marks for that sequence!
