Look, I’m as down for boundary-pushing Rick and Morty as anyone, but Ep 3 just left me cold.
The core concept sounds wild on paper, but once the initial shock wears off it’s 22 minutes of the same cringe-sex gag on repeat with almost no emotional or satirical payoff. The Beth-on-Beth stuff never feels like a genuine exploration of identity or cloning ethics; it’s just an excuse for nonstop “haha they’re banging” jokes that get old fast.
Jerry steals every scene he’s in (classic pathetic gold), but everyone else is stuck in reaction mode. Even the animation feels claustrophobic, like the show forgot how to leave the house. There are a couple dark laughs, sure, but this is the first time in years an R&M episode genuinely felt like it was trying to gross me out instead of make me think.
6/10, easily the weakest of the season so far.
