This restart expertly blends classic nostalgia with terrifying new threats, making for a truly engaging 8.5/10 return. The opening sequence alone, with the bank heist and the introduction of a new character (antagonist?), immediately proves the world is bigger than we knew.
The atmosphere is fantastic, showing us the emotional damage from Season 1… especially with Mike holding onto hope for Eleven, and Will grappling with his disturbing flashes of the Upside Down.
The episode beautifully introduces the enigmatic Max, who instantly changes the dynamic of the core group. While much of the chapter is setup, the final scene is quite interesting and sets up the season well.
