Ep 9 turns a business pitch into a study of stereotype versus authenticity, and it works best when it keeps that contrast sharply in focus.
Hank’s efforts to win over a prospective client by performing a cowboy image outside his comfort zone make for comedy rooted in character, not slapstick. The discomfort of wearing cowboy boots and dressing Peggy in an ill-fitting outfit adds visual humour, while the episode’s satirical edge comes through in how Holloway clings to an idealised view of Texas.
Guest voices – especially Burt Reynolds as M. F. Thatherton – inject energy into the rival pitch dynamic. The humour doesn’t always land with big laughs, but the scenario remains consistently engaging because it reflects something recognisably human: the tension between being true to yourself and trying to impress others. 6.5/10.
