Gripping but Flawed
Sean Combs: The Reckoning is a gripping, infuriating, and flawed dive into the rise and fall of a hip-hop titan.
The series shines when it lets insiders like Aubrey O’Day and Kirk Burrowes speak, revealing the toxic culture behind Combs’ empire. The never-before-seen footage – especially in Ep 3 and 4 – is raw and revealing, making it impossible to look away.
But the one-sidedness is glaring. By Ep 4, the series leans so hard into outrage that it risks losing credibility, especially when jurors and talking heads dismiss the court verdict as purely biased.
It’s engaging enough to hook you, but the lack of nuance leaves you questioning what’s missing.
7/10: a must-watch for hip-hop fans, but don’t mistake it for the full story.
