The Maddock Universe BITES Off More Than It Can Chew
As a big fan of the Stree films, Thamma was a slightly mixed experience… while it doesn’t quite hit that high-water mark, it’s certainly an enjoyable watch.
The core concept of a Human-Betaal love story is original and the lead chemistry is undeniably strong. However, I felt the movie was a bit lost, spending too much time on the lengthy romance and several over-long action sequences that often felt uninspired. It desperately needed tighter editing; the pacing felt sluggish at times.
Oh and the VFX were clearly not top-notch, occasionally looking cheap and pulling me right out of the world the film was trying to build. So maybe they should anyways have reduced the action sequences and spent the same money in making that better.
Overall, it’s an ambitious effort that tries to deepen the universe but stumbles, making it an enjoyable watch, but not a stellar one. 6.5/10 for me.
