Ep 22 “Peggy’s Turtle Song” blends humour with genuine emotional weight, making it one of the more thoughtful episodes of the season.

The episode balances Peggy’s frustration at being quietly sidelined as a wife and mother with Bobby’s ADD storyline, which is handled with unusual restraint. Bobby’s behavioural shift is played for laughs on the surface, but there is an underlying discomfort in how quickly his individuality is smoothed away in the name of improvement.

What makes the episode effective is that it never turns this into a lecture – instead, small moments and throwaway lines do the heavy lifting. Peggy’s creative insecurity feels grounded, Bobby’s literal logic remains funny, and the emotional through-line ties both stories together naturally.

My standout line was when Bobby casually tells Luanne she must have gotten ADD from him “when I sneezed,” perfectly capturing the episode’s mix of innocence and sharp satire.

The result is an episode that is humorous, thoughtful, and quietly critical, proving the show can tackle sensitive subjects without losing its light touch. 7.5/10.
