We are two hours in, and the show is still leaning hard into the “bright summer” vibe.

It feels more like a teen drama than the spooky sci-fi we started with. The kids are dealing with breakups and mall hangouts, which is fine, but it lacks that heavy tension the first two seasons had right out of the gate. The humor is hit-or-miss, and the pacing feels a bit slow as we wait for the real threat to show up.

However, the final five minutes finally deliver the creepiness I’ve been looking for. It’s a bit of a slow burn, but that ending gives me hope that the “real” show is about to wake up.
