After two pretty average episodes, Season 7 finally hits that classic dark, twisted Rick and Morty sweet spot with “That’s Amorte.”
The premise – Rick discovering the best food in the universe comes from aliens who off themselves at peak happiness – is bleak as hell, and the show leans all the way in. Watching Rick turn existential suicide into a galaxy-wide spaghetti empire is peak cynical capitalism satire, and the food animation is so disgustingly appetizing it’ll haunt your dreams.
Standout moments: Grandpa’s cheerful “perfect day” suicide in the cold open, Jerry blissfully slurping sauce while yelling “This is the best thing that’s ever happened to me!”, and Morty’s raw “You made suicide taste good!” confrontation. The planet broadcast climax actually lands emotionally without getting sappy.
Compared to Season 6’s top-class consistency, this feels like the real Season 7 kickoff… dark, funny, and uncomfortably thought-provoking. 7.5/10.
