Ep 20 “Dog Dale Afternoon” leans heavily into Dale Gribble’s paranoid worldview, and in its first half that focus works extremely well.

The episode uses a small, petty conflict to peel back how Dale actually sees the world: hostile, manipulated, and full of invisible enemies. That psychological angle gives the comedy an edge and makes Dale feel more than just a cartoon conspiracy theorist.

Where the episode loses momentum is in how far it pushes the premise. The escalation becomes louder and more mechanical than funny, stretching a clever idea beyond its natural breaking point. Instead of sharpening the satire, the second half relies on spectacle and repetition.

Still, the character work carries it. Dale is given rare depth, Hank is forced into reluctant emotional responsibility, and the episode ultimately plays more like a character study than a gag machine.

6.5/10: Uneven, but worthwhile.
