Ep 6 “A Beer Can Named Desire” works best when it stays focused on Hank and his relationship with pride, expectation, and letting go.
The central contest storyline is cleanly structured and thematically clear, using Hank’s fixation on performance and reward to explore how easily meaning can be over-invested in a single outcome. That arc lands well, especially in how it resolves with quiet acceptance rather than triumph.
By contrast, the Bill subplot involving his cousins feels tonally uneven and more eccentric than funny, diluting some of the episode’s momentum rather than reinforcing its themes.
Still, the episode closes on a solid moral about knowing when to move on, and the A-story carries enough weight to make this a respectable, if not standout, entry. 7.5/10.
