Ep 9 “Mort: Ragnarick” bounces back a bit after the Numbericons drag-fest.
It’s watchable chaos with Rick mining the afterlife for infinite energy, Bigfoot as his murder tool, and the Pope turning into a god-emperor villain. The Jerry near-death cold open is funny, the Valhalla heist spirals into absurd monster team-ups and death loops, and there are solid shocks plus laughs in the religion satire and Pokémon balls. Bigfoot switching sides and the Pope’s power grab deliver some wild moments.
But it’s uneven: the Nordic stuff feels off (those accents lean weirdly Middle Eastern instead of Scandinavian), the pacing wobbles between clever twists and filler, and it doesn’t hit the tight, high-concept highs of classic Rick and Morty or even Season 6 standouts.
Still, way better than the previous ep… saves the back half of the season from tanking completely.
