Ep 9 “To Kill a Ladybird” leans heavily into tension and emotional stakes, using fear, responsibility, and loyalty as its central themes. The episode is strongest when it focuses on Hank’s bond with Ladybird and the quiet anxiety that comes with the possibility of loss, leading to a genuinely heartfelt resolution.
However, the humour is more uneven than usual. Some running gags, particularly around panic and paranoia, feel stretched past their natural lifespan, blunting their impact. While the thematic intent is clear and well-meaning, the balance tilts a little too far toward repetition rather than escalation.
It’s a solid episode with a clear emotional core, but it lacks the sharp comedic rhythm that defines stronger entries. 6.5/10.
