Ep 14 “High Anxiety” is one of Season 4’s strongest episodes, confidently leaning into a detective-thriller structure while staying firmly rooted in character comedy. 8.5/10.
The continuation of the murder storyline gives the episode real momentum, and the mystery is played straight enough to create tension without losing its comic edge. Hank’s spiralling self-doubt is a standout, turning his rigid moral compass into a source of both humor and anxiety. The supporting cast amplifies the paranoia rather than diffusing it, which keeps the tone unusually focused for King of the Hill.
The resolution is especially satisfying, capped with a playful, Poirot-style reveal that feels clever rather than gimmicky. A rare blend of genre parody and character-driven storytelling that fully delivers.
