Some pilots feel like homework. This one feels like a door swinging open into somewhere you’re not sure you should go… and you go anyway.
From the very first scene, Locke & Key grabbed me by the collar and didn’t let go. What’s immediately impressive is how it unsettles: no jump scares, no gore, no monster lurking in shadows – just atmosphere, dread, and a house that breathes secrets. The well scene alone is a masterclass in slow-burn unease.
The child performances are exceptional – Jackson Robert Scott as Bode is an absolute find. The grief underneath the fantasy feels genuinely earned, not decorative.
For a pilot balancing world-building, family trauma, and supernatural mystery, this is a remarkably confident opening move. Extremely promising. 7.5/10.
