Locke & Key settles into a comfortable rhythm here… and mostly that’s a good thing.
The keys mystery inches forward meaningfully: the revelation that Dodge physically cannot take the keys is a clever piece of world-building, and arming Sam Lesser with a prison escape key is a genuinely ominous closing move.
But the episode splits its attention, weaving in teenage romance subplots that feel lighter than the show’s best moments. Tyler’s Head Key study hack is charming – exactly what a real teenager would do – and Kinsey’s fearless makeover is fun, even if it slightly diminishes what made her compelling. Ellie’s behaviour in Rendell’s basement quietly steals the episode.
Still very watchable, still very much going somewhere. 7.5/10.
