Ep 5 “Shock Jock” serves as a solid reentry point following the mid-season break, dialing up the tension as the endgame snaps into focus. 7.5/10.
The highlight here is undoubtedly the return of Kali; seeing her back in the fold adds a layer of history and power that the group desperately needs. The “Frankenstein” approach to reanimating a Demogorgon is classic Stranger Things pseudo-science, providing some of the episode’s most visually arresting moments.
However, as the stakes climb toward the series finale, the show is shedding its skin. The lighthearted, bike-riding “kids on an adventure” vibe has been replaced by heavy emotional purges and gritty lab infiltrations.
While the argument over Eddie’s legacy was a necessary gut-punch, the loss of that signature “fun” element makes the atmosphere feel increasingly oppressive. It’s a high-stakes, necessary chapter, but it definitely trades nostalgic charm for cold, hard progression.
