Ep 6 “Escape from Camazotz” delivers another solid hour of high-stakes television, even if it requires a bit of that classic “80s movie” suspension of disbelief to navigate some of the more illogical character choices.
The heart of the episode isn’t in the science, but in the long-overdue honesty between Nancy and Jonathan. Their breakup was handled with a refreshing, brutal sincerity that felt far more earned and heartwarming than a standard proposal would have. It’s a rare moment of maturity in a show that often leans on romantic tropes.
Holly Wheeler continues to be the season’s breakout, evolving into a genuinely compelling survivor while Eleven has – surprisingly – remained on the sidelines for much of the run. However, seeing those first rays of hope from El as we approach the final two chapters provides the necessary spark for the endgame.
7.5/10: It’s a messy, emotional, and visually sticky episode that sets the stage for a massive finish.
