This episode of King of the Hill is firing on all cylinders, delivering one of the strongest entries of the season.
The A-story gives Bill a rare, emotionally engaging spotlight, making you genuinely root for him while also adding depth to his past, particularly through insights into his relationship with his ex-wife. It’s a well-balanced mix of humor and pathos that lands consistently.
At the same time, the B-story around propane vs charcoal is classic KOTH – simple on the surface but executed with precision, leading to a payoff that feels both funny and character-true. Peggy’s resolution, in particular, is handled perfectly and adds a subtle emotional beat to the comedy.
8.5/10: a top-tier episode. Both storylines complement each other without one overshadowing the other.
