A solid if slow-burning episode that keeps the season’s plates spinning without quite reaching the highs of its predecessors. 6.5/10.
The standout moment arrives unexpectedly – a ghost from Season 1 makes a surprise return and delivers the episode’s most genuinely affecting scene, reminding us that this show is at its best when it honours its own history.
Duncan’s fractured mental state continues to be one of the season’s most compelling and honestly performed arcs. The Gideon-Josh connection quietly slots into place with satisfying inevitability. On the downside, Tyler’s relentless efforts to stop Jackie from forgetting magic stretch credibility – the emotional logic feels forced rather than earned, and it risks undermining an otherwise sympathetic character.
Good progress overall, but some subplots need tightening.
