Bobby and Connie find a hilarious way to skip the middle school social ladder by inventing tragic high school alter egos. Watching Bobby fully commit to the “Kidney Boy” persona for the sake of free snacks and unearned popularity is a classic showcase for his character’s unique blend of theatre and opportunism. It is a sharp look at how easily people can get swept up in an inspirational story without checking the facts, making for some great cringe comedy.
While the “Pee-Pee Boy” strike subplot provides some steady laughs with Hank and the guys, the real energy comes from the high school prom setting. The addition of a guest appearance by No Doubt adds a cool, early-2000s vibe to the finale.
It might not feel like a massive, high-stakes conclusion to the season, but it is a consistently funny and grounded episode that handles Bobby’s inevitable public confession with the perfect amount of awkwardness. 7.5/10.
