Ep 6 “The Curicksous Case of Bethjamin Button” is a perfectly average Rick and Morty episode – nothing great, but a clear step up from the last disaster.
The core idea of Beth rapidly de-aging has some solid potential, and the early “human world” scenes at home and the vet clinic deliver decent family chaos and body-horror comedy. Sarah Chalke does a good job switching between adult, teen, and kid versions of Beth.
However, the whole thing has a strong déjà vu feeling – we’ve seen the whole Humanworld arc a million times under other guises, though it still had laughs.
The Beth-as-a-kid arc especially fell flat for me; the tantrums and role reversals didn’t land many laughs and started dragging. It’s watchable and harmless, but far from memorable or one of the season’s highs.
6/10: Solid recovery after the cryo-ship mess, just not much more than that.
