This 45-min finale is a very good Cotton episode that successfully trades his usual irritation for genuine emotional depth. 7.5/10.
While the first half feels a bit mixed, the narrative truly finds its rhythm once Hank meets his Japanese half-brother, Junichiro. Their “mirror image” dynamic provides the heart of the story, making for some of the series’ best character-driven comedy.
The subplots – like Bobby’s brief romance and Cotton’s quest for forgiveness – are fine, though they sometimes feel like padding. The double-episode length is a bit overstretched; the story likely would have packed a punchier impact in a tighter 30-minute format. Additionally, the lack of focus on Dale and Bill’s antics back in Arlen feels like a missed opportunity for more consistent laughs.
