Ep 9 “Morty Daddy” is a really solid episode that finally feels like Season 8 is getting its groove back.
I loved the dual storylines – the emotional father-son reunion with Morty and his rapidly aging Gazorpazorpian son (a great callback to Season 1) was surprisingly heartfelt and awkward in the best way, while the Rick/Summer B-plot at the precognitive restaurant with the manipulative Cogs delivered fun, nonsensical randomness and sharp satire.
Both arcs worked well and complemented each other nicely. The hot dog truck escape and the garbage dimension payoff were classic chaotic R&M energy. After a few uneven episodes, this one feels like the show is back to its awesome, unpredictable self.
8.5/10: Strong character moments, good laughs, and that signature absurdity make it one of the season’s better outings.
