Now we’re talking. After a cautious opener, Ep 2 is where Widow’s Bay starts showing what it’s really made of.

The inn is the whole show in miniature – funny, unsettling, and just strange enough to keep you slightly off-balance throughout. The writers put Tom in a situation that should be ridiculous and somehow make it genuinely creepy. That’s harder to pull off than it looks.

Rhys is excellent here. He carries scene after scene mostly alone, and never lets it feel like a one-man stage exercise. His Tom is stubborn to the point of self-destruction, and watching him make the wrong call – even after everything – is both maddening and completely believable.

The Jaws echoes are hard to miss and clearly intentional. A man in charge who sees the danger and opens the beach anyway. Classic.

My only gripe? This show is made for bingeing, and weekly drops could seriously dull the momentum it’s building right now.
