This one picks up the pace nicely and feels like the real start of the ride. The investigation flows smoothly, and the 1930s details – the clothes, the streets, the clubs – are spot on and add real weight to every scene. Nicolas Cage keeps getting better as the reluctant Ben Reilly, mixing dry humour with that growing edge.
I liked how the story builds tension without rushing, and finally seeing The Spider back in action, even for a short burst, delivered the thrill I was waiting for. The scene where he pulls out the old mask again had a fun, light touch that worked perfectly.
Stronger than the opener, with better momentum and just the right mix of detective work and hero return. I’m properly hooked now. Solid 8/10.
