This is one of the best TBBT episodes. The exaggerated clothes and hairstyles immediately pulled me into the 2003 setting and made the flashback feel distinct.
I really liked how it put Sheldon and Leonard's history into clear context, finally explaining how they ended up living together and why the elevator has been broken for years. The best part was the run of hilarious situations, especially the intense roommate interview and the rocket fuel disaster.
The writing and direction felt sharp the whole way through… every beat landed and the pacing never slipped. It answered long-running questions while delivering consistent laughs.
9/10: A standout episode that holds up extremely well.
