Ep 14 “Board Games” is a genuinely good watch.
It serves as a sharp, effective satire of local elections, but what really makes it work is how it uses that political backdrop for clear, undeniable Peggy character development. We see her supposedly noble intentions completely hijacked by her own massive ego and desperate need for control. The alliance fracturing between her, Nancy, and Minh is hilarious and painfully accurate to how these women operate.
The ending is perfectly bittersweet. By ruthlessly sabotaging everyone just to ensure she doesn’t lose, Peggy guarantees the conservative candidate takes the seat, completely destroying the very after-school programs she originally set out to save.
7/10: It is a brilliant, self-inflicted defeat that perfectly caps off her arc here. No cheap laughs, just solid, character-driven consequences.
