Ep 18 “I Never Promised You an Organic Garden” is an okay episode.
The core concept is great, but it frankly hasn’t aged well. Watching it now, it feels like it inadvertently validates American skepticism around organic food, or at least completely botches the actual science behind it. The show’s explanation of organic farming is so wildly inaccurate that I’m genuinely baffled this ever won an Environmental Media Award. It completely undermines its own supposed message.
That said, as a pure Peggy episode, it actually works quite well. Her desperate, hypocritical cover-up to maintain her facade of expertise is classic, character-driven comedy.
5.5/10: Watchable. It’s just a shame the environmental messaging is so fundamentally flawed.
