I came for Penny. Fine, Kaley Cuoco. Old habits.

The first episode didn’t blow me away. It’s alright, and I’ll say that plainly. I wasn’t hooked right away, but I wasn’t bored either. It had enough intrigue and entertainment to make me press play on the next one, and that counts for something.

The plot wanders at times. Nothing that made me quit, though. A few stretches felt loose, like the story was finding its feet while the episode was already running.

What holds it together is Kaley. She is the reason this works, and she is Cassie here, not Penny. Her acting is superb, and her charisma carries scenes that the writing alone wouldn’t. Even when I wasn’t sure where things were heading, I was happy to follow her there.

This isn’t a hook that grabs you by the collar. It’s a steady pull, and a lead I trust. If you’re curious, give the opener a fair shot. I’m in for more, mostly because of her.

6.5/10.
