I loved watching Stottlemeyer move straight into Monk's apartment, which turns basic domestic annoyances into pure comedy gold.
The Captain's messy habits smash right into Monk's rigid obsession with coasters and exact placements. Meeting Stottlemeyer's wife Karen for the first time gives his character a great personal layer, making his desperate scramble to avoid going home both hilarious and genuinely relatable.
On top of that domestic chaos, the investigation itself delivers a sharp and clever puzzle. Following the trail of those vintage snakeskin boots straight to a hidden payload leads to a brilliant resolution.
7.5/10: Tightly paced mystery paired with top-tier character dynamics makes this hour fly by.
