Butters Finally Gets His Due

B52 rating: 7.5/10

I found this quite a good episode, even if it didn’t quite hit the greatness I usually expect from the show.

The core concept of Cartman believing he is a ghost works incredibly well and delivers some genuinely hilarious moments. It is obviously a heavy Cartman development episode, but I really appreciated how much focus it gave to Butters. He hadn’t gotten his due since Kenny returned earlier this season, and watching him get dragged into Cartman’s delusional apology tour was a major highlight. The escalation to the mental asylum felt a bit dark, which might be why the whole thing didn’t feel completely great to me.

Still, the execution of the silent treatment prank and Cartman’s sheer panic make it a very solid watch.

7.5/10: a fun, character-driven ride that perfectly nails the premise every single time.
