Superman

Blimey, James Gunn’s Superman (2025) has landed, and it’s a proper breath of fresh air for the DC lot!

David Corenswet is absolutely cracking as the Man of Steel, embodying that classic earnestness, while Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane is simply generational casting… their chemistry is electric, no doubt. This film ditches the grim and gritty for a vibrant, hopeful romp, embracing a proper comic-book aesthetic that’s a feast for the eyes.

For the younger audience, it’s rated PG-13, so expect some colourful language and intense action, meaning parental discretion is advised for the littl’uns. Comic book purists might find a few lore liberties a tad jarring, and yes, the plot can feel a bit overstuffed with new characters, making it a tad dense. Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor is a bit of a mixed bag, but Krypto the Superdog is an absolute scene-stealer, bless him.

Gunn’s done a stellar job restarting the DCU, delivering a film that feels both familiar and refreshingly new. And if you’re wondering about IMAX? Don’t be a mug, absolutely go for it! The visuals and pinballing surround sound are a proper spectacle, making it well worth the extra quid. Despite a few minor wobbles, this

Superman is a triumphant, heartfelt return to form. You’ll be chuffed to bits.
