The Film That Could Have Been

As a devoted Salman Khan fan, I went into “Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan” with modest expectations, and found myself pleasantly surprised by Bhai’s committed performance, even if the film around him feels rather half-baked.

Salman genuinely shines in the family sequences, where his natural warmth comes through brilliantly. His portrayal of the protective eldest brother has that classic Salman charm we’ve come to adore, and he seems more engaged here than in recent outings. The action bits, whilst formulaic, showcase his screen presence well enough.

Farhad Samji’s direction is workmanlike rather than inspired, competent but hardly groundbreaking. This remake of the 2014 Tamil hit “Veeram” retains some family dynamics but lacks emotional punch. Samji plays it frightfully safe, delivering exactly what you’d expect from a Salman vehicle without any particular flair.

The supporting cast does what it can with limited material. Pooja Hegde brings adequate charm, though she’s clearly there for star power rather than character development. Venkatesh and Jagapathi Babu lend proper gravitas, and their presence elevates several scenes nicely.

The film’s biggest issue isn’t incompetence, it’s predictability. Every plot beat arrives precisely when expected, and the emotional moments, whilst not ineffective, feel somewhat manufactured. There are glimpses of genuine entertainment, particularly in the family banter and some well-choreographed scraps.

What’s most frustrating is how this represents a missed opportunity rather than outright failure. There are enough decent moments to suggest a better film lurking beneath. It’s watchable enough for fans, but hardly the triumphant return to form we were hoping for.
