Jewel Thief commits the ultimate heist… stealing 115 minutes of your life whilst offering absolutely nothing in return.
Despite Saif Ali Khan and Jaideep Ahlawat’s efforts, this templated heist thriller is weighed down by shallow storytelling, proving that even talent this calibre can’t polish a turd into a diamond.
Saif sleepwalks through his master thief role like he’s calculating his Netflix paycheck, whilst Jaideep Ahlawat, fresh from career-defining performances, seems genuinely confused about why he’s in this mess. The man who terrified us in Paatal Lok now delivers menacing threats with all the conviction of a telemarketer reading a script.
The film is riddled with shoddy dialogue, choppy editing, and bad writing, creating a repetitive exercise where every technical aspect desperately tries compensating for another’s failures.
The “heist” feels less Ocean’s Eleven and more like watching someone struggle to open a particularly stubborn pickle jar.
Directors Kookie Gulati and Robbie Grewal have crafted something so aggressively mediocre, it makes you appreciate silence. Budapest looks lovely though, probably the film’s only successful theft.
Rating: 3/10 (The real crime here is wasting two lead actors on this glittery nonsense)
