I caught Maa’s mid-credits scene hinting at a connection, so I dove into Shaitaan, a chilling Hindi thriller that hooked me, earning a solid 7.5/10.
A remake of Vash, Shaitaan follows a family (Ajay Devgn, Jyothika) terrorized by Vanraj (R. Madhavan), a sinister stranger who hypnotizes their daughter (Janki Bodiwala). The premise grips with psychological horror, and Vikas Bahl’s direction builds eerie tension with haunting visuals, though the second half drags with repetitive moments.
Aamil Keeyan Khan’s script avoids typical horror clichés but stumbles with a predictable climax. Madhavan’s chilling yet charismatic Vanraj dominates, while Devgn’s desperate father and Jyothika’s fierce mother add emotional weight.
Bodiwala shines as the possessed teen, though minor plot holes persist. Amit Trivedi’s score and Sudhakar Reddy Yakkanti’s cinematography amplify the dread.
Shaitaan is a gripping watch for horror fans, though a tighter script and some more body horror could have pushed it higher.
