Last Looks

Last Looks was quite a letdown, scraping by with a 5/10 only because I’m a sucker for Charlie Hunnam and Mel Gibson.

Hunnam’s Charlie Waldo, a disgraced ex-cop turned recluse, gets roped into solving a TV star’s wife’s murder. Sounds cool, right? Nope. It’s a boring, pointless slog. The plot chases a quirky noir vibe but feels like a Lifetime movie with better actors.

Hunnam’s scruffy charm and Gibson’s over-the-top drunk actor bit kept me from bailing, but even their star power can’t save the messy script. The interval twist? Yawn-saw it coming a mile away.

Morena Baccarin’s barely there, and the rest of the cast, like Rupert Friend and Clancy Brown, are stuck in forgettable roles. Tim Kirkby’s direction flops, and Howard Michael Gould’s script is all over the place, missing the wit it aims for. Lyle Vincent’s visuals are okay but don’t pop.

I kept my phone on to survive the draggy bits. If you love Hunnam and Gibson, it’s barely worth a half-distracted watch. Skip it otherwise.
