As a non-Telugu speaker, I went into this movie with subtitles and a healthy dose of skepticism. But Kingdom surprised me. It’s a gripping action film that chooses substance over flair, and it’s all the better for it. 7.5/10

Director Gowtam Tinnanuri gives us an intense and visceral experience, steering clear of typical Tollywood heroics for something far more grounded. Well, mostly… until the climax. The film’s true power lies in its emotional core, which, while occasionally rushed, provides a solid foundation for the narrative.

Vijay Deverakonda’s performance is a revelation. He ditches his signature swagger to play Suri with a powerful mix of restraint, vulnerability, and simmering rage. This is easily his most compelling performance to date. He is ably supported by a strong performance from Satyadev, whose chemistry with Deverakonda is a major highlight.

The film’s technical execution is sharp, from the stunning visuals that capture the beauty and grit of the landscapes to Anirudh’s powerful background score.

While the second half has some pacing issues and a few character arcs feel underdeveloped, these are minor flaws in what is a well-made cinematic effort. Kingdom is a strong comeback for its leading man and a must-watch for fans of emotionally resonant action dramas.
