Russian Roulette: A Sweet but Shaky Romance

Lucky is a mixed bag of romance, comedy, and action, with Salman Khan’s star power holding it together. It starts as a charming, if unlikely, romance between a schoolgirl (Sneha Ullal) and the Indian Ambassador’s son (Salman Khan).

The first half is engaging, with Lucky and Aditya’s chemistry and the film’s stunning Russian locales making for an enjoyable watch. However, the second half takes a sharp turn into action and drama, feeling disjointed and over-the-top.

Sneha Ullal is a revelation, bringing innocence and spunk to her role, while Salman Khan’s star power keeps the film afloat despite the weak script.

The music by Adnan Sami is a highlight, with tracks like “Lucky Lips” and “Shayad Yehi To Pyaar Hai” adding emotional and romantic depth. The cinematography is gorgeous, but the plot loses steam after the intermission, with a rushed climax and underdeveloped villains.

The film’s biggest issue is its tonal inconsistency – it can’t decide if it’s a light-hearted romance or a serious action-thriller. The age gap between the leads is also distracting. Still, for fans of early 2000s Bollywood masala, Lucky offers enough entertainment to justify a watch.

6.5/10 – enjoyable but could have been so much more!
