One Man, One Tower, Endless Awesome: Die Hard Rules
IMDb rating: 9/10
I revisited Die Hard 35 years on, it still hits like a runaway freight train.
Bruce Willis as John McClane is my kind of hero… bruised, witty, and just a guy trying to save his wife. His “Yippie-ki-yay” growl gives me chills every time, raw and real, like he’s fighting for me too.
I finally recognised Snape, oops, Alan Rickman whose Hans Gruber is pure velvet evil, his smug sneer making my blood boil and my jaw drop. Bonnie Bedelia’s Holly grounds the chaos with fierce heart, while Reginald VelJohnson’s Powell feels like a friend I’d trust in a crisis.
John McTiernan’s direction is a masterclass: every explosion, every quip, lands with precision. Jan de Bont’s gritty visuals and Michael Kamen’s score pulse through my veins. The plot’s relentless, though some tech feels dated (fax machines, anyone?). Still, it’s a gut-punch of adrenaline and emotion, reminding me why I love movies that make heroes out of regular folks.
8.5/10: Die Hard isn’t just an action flick… it’s a timeless thrill that makes my heart race and my fists pump.
And yes, it is a Christmas movie!
