Having rewatched the original Final Destination (check my recent imdb review), I dove into Final Destination: Bloodlines and it’s a solid 7/10, matching the OG’s thrill!
Kaitlyn Santa Juana’s Stefani, haunted by visions of a 1969 skyscraper disaster, learns her family’s on Death’s hit list. The concept of inherited doom feels fresh, and the kills – oh man, that MRI scene is bonkers – are as brutal and creative as ever. The interval tower collapse is pure, heart-pounding magic, perfectly setting up the chaos.
Santa Juana’s earnest, Richard Harmon’s snarky cousin, and Tony Todd’s soulful final Bludworth cameo had me hooked. Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein nail the franchise’s gory charm, with Christian Sebaldt’s visuals making every death pop. Tim Wynn’s score amps the dread, though the family drama drags a bit. It’s not as tight as the 2000 classic, but the nods to past films and wild set pieces kept me glued.
I laughed, flinched, and teared up… perfect for a focused watch, though it holds up with a phone nearby. A bloody, fun ride for fans!
