Silence is a taut, if flawed, whodunit that rides on Manoj Bajpayee’s magnetic grit.
As ACP Avinash Verma, Bajpayee is a firecracker, spitting poetic zingers and unraveling a murder with Sherlockian flair- his clashes with Arjun Mathur’s cagey MLA Ravi Khanna are pure dynamite. Mathur nails the smarmy suspect vibe, but Prachi Desai’s Sanjana is wasted in a bland sidekick role, and Barkha Singh’s victim is mere flashback fodder.
Aban Bharucha Deohans keeps the 136-minute Zee5 thriller humming with crisp editing and moody visuals, though the plot – Pooja’s hilltop murder tied to a messy affair – stumbles with predictable twists and a dragged-out gangster subplot. Gaurav Godkhindi’s score amps the grim vibe, but shaky logic and a CID-esque feel dull the edge.
Still, Bajpayee’s star power and punchy dialogues make this a gripping one-time watch for mystery fans. It’s not groundbreaking, but it hooks you till the killer’s unmasked.
7/10 for keeping you guessing, even if you see some turns coming.
