Sleeper Cells, Stunning Stunts: Holiday’s Solid 7/10 for Explosive Action, Heartfelt Valor
IMDb rating: 7/10

Holiday is a pretty good 7/10 action romp that lets Akshay Kumar flex his patriotic muscle, and is eminently watchable as a Hindi remake of the Murugadoss’s own Tamil Thuppakki.
As Captain Virat, Akshay is a one-man army, mowing down sleeper cell terrorists with jaw-dropping stunts and razor-sharp quips, making every frame pulse with energy. Sumeet Raghavan’s goofy cop sidekick steals laughs, but Sonakshi Sinha’s Saiba is stuck in a flimsy romantic subplot, her boxing skills wasted on dance numbers. Freddy Daruwala’s villain lacks the menace to match Kumar’s heroics, and the plot – while gripping – leans on predictable cat-and-mouse tropes.
A. R. Murugadoss delivers slick direction, with Greg Powell’s action sequences popping off, though Pritam’s patchy score and a bloated 161-minute runtime drag. Still, Holiday hooks with its tense chases and patriotic fervor, exposing sleeper cell threats with a Bollywood twist.
Perfect for fans of high-octane thrills, it’s a solid weekend watch that doesn’t overstay its welcome despite minor misfires. Akshay carries it, proving a soldier’s duty never clocks out.
