The School for Good and Evil

The School for Good and Evil is a decent one-time watch, landing a 6/10, but you won’t miss anything if you skipped it.

Sophie (Sophia Anne Caruso) and Agatha (Sofia Wylie) get swept into a fairy-tale school, but Sophie’s stuck in Evil and Agatha in Good – total mix-up! They fight to fix it while facing magic and mean girls. The concept’s fun, flipping fairy-tale tropes, and the interval ball scene is a dazzling highlight, all sparkles and tension.

Wylie’s Agatha is the heart, totally relatable, but Caruso’s Sophie feels flat due to a shaky script. Charlize Theron and Kerry Washington are fun but barely get to shine. Paul Feig’s direction goes big, with John Schwartzman’s colorful visuals popping, but the story drags, feeling like a stretched TV pilot. Theodore Shapiro’s score is okay but forgettable.

I enjoyed the vibe, but the pacing sagged, and the plot’s predictable. I stayed engaged, though my phone got some glances during slow bits. It’s a fun, flashy ride for a lazy night, but nothing great…needed tighter editing to hit harder.

Worth a watch with kids, if you are out of choices.
