Nobody 2 is a fun, messy sequel that gets a 7/10, not quite hitting the original’s 8/10 magic.
Bob Odenkirk’s Hutch, our favorite ex-assassin, takes his family to a theme park, only to brawl with Sharon Stone’s campy crime boss, Lendina. But Hutch’s vulnerability, so raw in the first, feels dialed back, which is tough to nail in a sequel.
Odenkirk’s still a blast, but Connie Nielsen’s Becca is barely there, and Christopher Lloyd’s role feels like a cameo. Stone’s over-the-top villainy is a riot, though it leans cartoonish. The funhouse fight is a wild highlight in the final 15 minutes, like an adult Home Alone with traps and gore… total chaos!
Timo Tjahjanto’s direction pumps up the action, and Callan Green’s visuals pop, but Derek Kolstad’s script misses the original’s gritty soul, dragging in the middle. I was hooked for the fights, but my phone got a glance during slow bits.
It’s a solid one-time watch, not as sharp as the first, but Odenkirk and that Home Alone-style finale make it worth a spin!
