Sui Dhaaga

Sui Dhaaga is a heartwarming 7.5/10 gem that stitches together joy and grit for an easy, feel-good watch.

Varun Dhawan sparkles as Mauji, a tailor with big dreams, his infectious optimism and quiet resolve threading every scene – though his character feels one-note, leaning on familiar underdog clichés. Anushka Sharma’s Mamta is the film’s backbone, her fierce support and subtle strength lifting their rags-to-riches tale. Raghubir Yadav’s gruff father adds sharp familial tension, while Yamini Das’ warm mother grounds the home scenes, though both are underused. Namit Das’ Guddu brings chuckles but stays on the sidelines.

Sharat Katariya’s direction weaves small-town India’s texture with tender humor, and Anil Mehta’s visuals capture the handloom hustle vividly, with Anu Malik’s “Chaav Laaga” tugging heartstrings.

The 122-minute tale stumbles with a predictable arc – loan struggles, market wins, fashion-show climax – and pacing dips in the middle. Its pro-handloom message lands, but heavy-handed moments dilute the charm.

Sui Dhaaga is an easy watch, perfect for a lazy day, with solid performances and heart, but its formulaic beats keep it from greatness.
