Legion of Super-Heroes

After mixed results from earlier entries in the Tomorrowverse, Legion delivers an engaging 31st century adventure that feels like a breath of fresh air. The shift to Supergirl’s perspective and the far future setting reinvigorates the franchise with genuine optimism.

Meg Donnelly nails Supergirl perfectly: capturing teenage energy without overdoing the angst. She balances Kara’s trauma from losing Krypton with her determination to find her place, making her relatable and compelling. Harry Shum Jr.’s Brainiac 5 provides excellent support, while familiar voices like Jensen Ackles’ Batman and Darren Criss’ Superman maintain Tomorrowverse continuity.

The Legion themselves feel authentically diverse and future-forward, avoiding the generic team dynamics that plague many superhero ensembles. The 31st century setting allows for creative visuals and storytelling opportunities that feel genuinely different from standard DC fare.

Minor issues include some predictable plot beats and the usual DC animated violence that feels unnecessary. The story structure is straightforward, but it works because the characters and world-building carry the weight.

Bottom Line: A surprisingly refreshing entry that proves the Tomorrowverse still has good stories to tell. Much better than expected.

6.5/10: Fresh perspective, solid execution.
