Mohit Suri’s Saiyaara is comfort cinema for anyone who still believes in Bollywood’s capacity for big, aching love – not because it reinvents romance but because it performs that old promise with craft.
Two newcomers anchor the film: Ahaan Panday is combustible as Krish, giving the role the jagged edges it needs, while Aneet Padda’s Vaani is a gentle, steady centre who makes the film’s quieter moments land.
The music is the movie’s secret weapon… songs and a lush score that repeatedly lift otherwise familiar beats. Where Saiyaara falters is predictability and pacing: at 2½ hours it luxuriates in melodrama until the narrative occasionally stalls. Still, predictability here doesn’t equal boredom; it’s the comfort of a well-worn story told with sincerity.
If you love polished cinematography, an emotive soundtrack and chemistry that convinces, you’ll enjoy this – if you crave surprises, temper expectations.
I’m giving it 7.5/10: a watchable, often moving romance that reminds you why these kinds of films still find audiences.
